Run by members.
For members.
The Tokoroa Alpine Club is governed by a volunteer committee elected annually at the AGM. Every committee member is also a club member — they pay their fees, take working bee shifts, and bunk in the same lodge as everyone else.
Who keeps the lodge running.
Michael Higgins
Provides leadership to the club and committee, helps set direction, and supports the smooth running of club activities, decision-making, and long-term planning. The President helps keep the club focused on its purpose of encouraging alpine activities and maintaining a strong, member-driven club community.
Sally Woodfield
Supports the administration of the club by coordinating committee meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and maintaining key records. The Secretary helps ensure the committee stays organised, informed, and meeting its obligations.
Wayne Peterson
Looks after the club’s member-facing communications and marketing. This role helps keep members informed, promotes club activities and updates, and supports clear, timely communication with the wider club community.
Chris Duyvestyn

Members and guests should use the club’s online booking system first, and the Bookings Officer is available to assist with any problems. Manages membership enquiries, nominations, new member onboarding, and induction sign off. This role helps prospective and current members through the membership process and supports the club’s goal of building a strong, active community of alpine enthusiasts with a family focus.
Jordan Hartley-Smith
Oversees the club’s finances, including subscriptions, payments, reporting, and budgeting. The Treasurer helps ensure the club remains financially well managed so it can continue to provide affordable lodge access to members and support the ongoing operation of the lodge.
Lance Pitcher

This role works closely with members and working bees to support the club’s long tradition of maintaining the lodge through voluntary labour. When staying at the lodge, if you notice any damage or items requiring maintenance or repair please report them promptly to the maintenance officer.
When we meet.
The committee meets through the year to keep things running. Any member is welcome to sit in — bring a question, raise an issue, or just listen.
